We don't.

Normal is a very relative term, and it is deemed "normal" when the majority agree that it is the "norm" or how everyone/everything is.

I work with the developmentally disabled, and I can tell you that most of them are far more "normal" than many "mainstream" Americans could ever hope to be. I think it is best just to keep an open mind and not worry about what is considered "normal".

You know what if your alive your normal. This world is made up of all types of people, problems and circumstances. Just as long as you are doing your best to be and have a happy life than you are normal.

Normal describes things that are typical or usual, also used to describe people of average intelligence and development and free of mental or physical defects. Now, using it in the society sense I feel that normal would be your average daily life not your personality.
