I'm having a difficulty understanding what the situation is in Iraq. I've looked at a couple of websites but all I read are death tolls and bombings and stuff but I can't seem to find a site that will give me the situation from the beginning so as to fully understand the conflict, and everytime I ask on Yahoo Q'As I get smart remarks against bush pro bush so on so forth but no real explanation... I've heard of these groups and at least would like to know what's up with them if anybody could do me the favor of explaining.

Kurds, Sunnies & Shiites are groups of religion based on Muslim & Islamic, regarding Bush & the War in Iraq, which is mostly the main reason we're at war beccause the Sunnies & Shiites are beating the shiite(Funny !) out of eachother & we're trying to stop it and they fight cause they are trying to figure out which group inherits the rights to lead on from Muhammad (The Prophet of the God in their Religion).

I know this...

They are like different "RELIGIONS" in the same FAITH. Like a Baptist church is to a Methodist church. Baptists and Methodists are Christians. But the Baptists believe only certain things from the Bible that the Methodists do not. And visa versa.

Instead of respecting their differences they violently attack each other. At least the Sunnis and the Shiites do. I think the Kurds are just happy they are free from Saddam. (i think.)

I have no HARD facts in front of me right now. (on who is trying to kill who at this moment.)

The different groups want an Islam rule. They just cannot agree on their very faith and thus cannot agree on the way they are to have a government established. (just a little extra thought.)

the kurds are a race of mountain folks much like the montagnards of viet nam in the mid 60's to early 1970's and opposed to the saddam hussein regime in some way or another (some lived in kuwait durring Opperation Dessert Storm and helped the USA and it's allies kick Saddam's tail out of Kuwait back then by feeding information they knew to the US and it's allies durring that war)

Sunnis and Schites are sects of muslim and some members of both sects were loyal to Saddam Hussein and his Basque Party which used to run Iraq also and are now fighting for control of Iraq and to get the USA out of there also I imagine if the USA ever fully gets out of Iraq (which is highly doubtfull) they will all turn on themselves to fight it out for control of Iraq

The kurds are a tribe of Islamic people, and the sunnis and shiites are a religious sect within islam. Go over to wikipedia and learn how they differ within the same land and beliefs. The difference in sects came over who succeeded Mohammad after he died.

they are all just different types of muslims. kind of like catholics, christians, baptists, protestants. they all think they are the right religion, but are all really pretty much the same. i am sure i will get slammed for this answer, but ideally all religions are very much alike, with the one greater being.
