Scams are everywhere - even on eBay! So you just have to protect yourself.
Use PayPal or BidPay to process payments. If you accept personal checks and money orders, don't ship until the money clears YOUR bank. Don't accept returns unless you failed to describe the item accurately as people have been known to switch merchandise that have been returned to sellers. Do your homework - watch feedback - look at the comments, not just the ratings! Just because someone is a 100,000 feedback Power Seller does not mean that they are reputable, ot a new seller with a 15 feedback is not reputable. Read the Item Description TOS carefully as you are bound by it if you are the successful bidder! Create your Item Description carefully to spell out the terms of your sale to your customer.

I sell internationally and had very few problems. Most of the stuff I buy is within the USA.
Just stick to people that have a good number of positive feedback and pay by PayPal.

Ebay authorized sellers and people with good feedback will not scam you. Paypal is probably the safest way to buy.

To avoid scams completly pay for your ebay items only with paypal. If you pay any other way you will have a tough time recovering any loss due to scams.
