Ha ha ha , there is ALLWAYS traffic - and who says he could drive by car from San Diego to LA in about 2 hours - this person is simple a liar.
American Airlines get over this distance in 55 Min.

It's about two hours on the freeway; it's more like 4 hours if you take PCH, but well worth the drive.
