Never get any mark in school that isn't an A.
Study every subject very seriously. Take the hardest courses your school offers. If your school doesnt have a lot of AP courses, switch to a harder school.
Pick out two or three extracurricular activities and work your heart out to win a national competition in each one. Science olympiad, math olympiad, sports, Business club, etc.
Do some kind of serious commuity service project that makes a difference in the lives of people in your community.

I have tutored three kids who went to Harvard in the last three years. All of them did everything I just said, and more. And they were great kids, too. Friendly, always smiling, and positive.

From someone who goes to an Ivy League University, let me be the first to tell you that getting into college isn't like having a checklist. You can have a perfect SAT score and the best grades and still not get in. Different Ivy Leagues look for different things. Some look for well-roundedness, while others look for things, like awards, that distinguish you. If you want to start preparing for something, you could start by getting involved in a sport, or, if you're not that type of person, you could try studying one subject. I started studying math when I was about 11 and by the time I reached high school, I was able to participate in prestigious competitions.

Thirteen is still too young to start getting seriously involved in colleges, so I'd suggest just enjoying your life right now. Besides, colleges only look at grades and achievements after grade 9.
