You should go to Akumal, Mexico. It is absolutely gorgeous. Stay at the Oasis Hotel. The beaches are white sand and the water is completely clear. You can see down 80 feet in the water. There is a huge coral reef barrier that separates that clear part from the rest of the ocean and it is GORGEOUS and very relaxing. The food is very good as well. I went there a few years ago and after 7 days I was not ready to come home.

Seven years ago I had the same epiphany and came to Bali for a holiday all on my own. It was such a mind opening experience that I came back several times over the next couple of years, until I decided to move here permanently 5 years ago.
Now I can't imagine ever living anywhere else! Bali is my Nirvana :-)
