Not a possibility. Cylons were built to take over the world and be the one and only race. They see humans as nothing more than we see ants, they are to be exterminated. They are a way to get what they want, a way to earth. The Cylons want Earth as a place to live. The basic premise is the same as the first show. They want a home, Earth is the only place left to be home. Both groups are looking for Earth, the only planet left that can be a home. The Cylons are no nice "people", they are machines, they are programed, even though some of them may look like people, they are still machines.
There are some changes between the two versions of the shows, but after catching up on what I had on TIVo tonight I realized tonight, they really are very very similar.
