Adults do cost more(sometimes £50 more), but I advise
new snake owners to get a baby because adults are
less active, live less with you and they tend to be grumpy.

But babys are very affectionete.

Yes they do cost more for the reasons the folks above me mentioned. There are many a good corn snake breeder available and you might try Kathy Love's web sight since her and Bill are responsible for a lot of the color morphs you see on the market these days. Also there are often snakes in need of homes you might inquire about offering to take some unwanted snakes.
And baby's can be a real pain to get feeding, i know i have 2 babies that are 5 months old and one of them just started eating on its own a week ago the other i still force feed. He'd let the pinky die before eating it. I have retarded corn snakes.

as a rule adults cost more but they come with pros and cons. buying an adult snake you can see from just looking at them if they are healthy and keepers can give you advice specific to that snake. on the other hand adults have had more time to develop bad habbits before you get them; bad temper, bad feeding, aggresive to other snakes etc. plus if you buy a baby you can bond more easily and get to know them better. if its your first snake get a baby but don't get a cross breed like a rat/corn cross because they can be difficult to handle and generally have worse temperments

Adult animals of any kind generally cost more because the breeders have had to invest more into getting the animal to a larger size (housing, food, etc.). Here's a website that you can use to get a good idea about prices for different sizes and color patterns: http://www.kingsnake.com/ They have a classified section, also a page of breeders/dealers where you can find info. (Also, a page of caresheets on different species.)

Just as a note, hatchlings can be difficult to get feeding, so try to get one a little older - doesn't have to be a full adult though!

From what I've seen, adults DO cost more because they're breedable. A baby cornsnake can run you anywhere from 20-200 dollars, I believe, based on what morph you get. Adults can be from 75-300.
Very general stats, there.
