most hotel casinos offer good deals to stay with them sunday-thursday, unless sunday precede a holiday,then no way... And sometimes if there is a convention overflow,meaning they stay over sunday,going home monday then the hotel rates will drop on monday nites...Plus it is slightly less busy without the weekend crowds,walking on the strip and in the casinos,etc....
Best to try to book a room before you get there, to get the best deals,,and if you have to cancel it, give yourself 48hrs ..

Sunday to Thursday is by far the best time to make reservations. The prices are cut as much as a third per night.

mid-week (Mon-Thurs) you'll get better hotel deals! Also, airlines typically give a fare-break for mid-week travel.
