*Pie is about "3.14" >>>

440 = (2)(3.14)(r) + 2(110)

440 = 6.28r + 2(110)

440 = 6.28r + 220

Sec: subtract "220" from both sides...

440 - 220 = 6.28r + 220 - 220
220 = 6.28r

Third: isolate "r" on one side --- divide both sides by 6.28"...

220/6.28 = 6.28r/6.28
35.03 = r

r = 35.03

Are you doing the same way each time?

Just write down the first equation
P = 2 pi r + 2x

Then write it again, but change "P" to 440, and "x" to 110
440 = 2 pi r + 2 times 110

Do the arithmetic
440 = 2 pi r + 220

Subtract 220 from each side.
Then divide each side by 2
Then divide each side by pi (you might need a calculator for this step).

You should get:
(some number) = r

p=2 x pie x r x 2x
440=2 x pie x r x 2 x 110
r=440 / 2 x pie x r x 2 x 110
r=440 / 440 x pie
r= pie

440 = 2x3.14(r) + 2(110) = 6.28(r)+220

220 = 6.28(r)
