This is very easy.

Your solution will be to find each percentage value of the whole. For example if your problem stated that there were 2,159 students and 10% were from Washington you could solve this way:

2159*10%=students from Washington
2159*.10=21.59

Does this make sense to you?

a. 2159 x 57% = 1231 students from rural areas
b. 2159 x 17% = 367 students from urban areas

This means that the remaining 26% = 561 students from suburban areas

The way you've worded c. is a problem. If the enrollment increases "by" 2471 (i.e., an additional 2471) you'll get one answer. If the enrollment increase "to" 2471 (i.e. an additional 688 students) you get a different answer. Which is it?

Dear friend,

following hints will be useful : of means to multiply

no of students = 2159

% of rural students = 57
therefore no of rural students = 57%of 2159
= (57/100) x 2159
= 1230.63
= 1230 (since no of students
has to be a number )
b) % of urban students = 17
therefore no of urban students = (17/100) X 2159
= 367.03
= 367(since the no of students
has to be a number )

c)current strength = 2159
% of suburban studnets = 26
no of suburban students = (26/100) x 2159
= 561.34
=561 (since no of students has to be a number)

strength in next year = 2471
no of suburban studnets = 650
% of suburban students = 650/2471 X 100
= 26.30%

difference in % = 26.30 - 26
= 0.30
Hence the difference is not as major compared to the entire population

a.1231
b.367
c.No. 26% of 2471 is 642 . The increase to 650 students would only be an 8 student increase over the previous year.

You should really do your homework yourself! What year/grade are you in? This is actually very basic maths. Have a go yourself first!

a) 2159-43%=1230.63 students
(you get this by dividing 2159 by 100 and then multiplying this answer by 57%)

b)2159-83%=367.03 students
(you get this answer by dividing 2159 by 100 and then multiplying this answer by 17%)

c). Will the population increase by 2471 students that is 2159+2471=4630 or will the whole population go to 2471?
Please verify this.

I hope I have helped.
