I'm hearing a lot of whack MJ hating out there.
From 1990 to 1998 (minus 2 years of baseball) Jordan was the undisputed dominant player in the game. From 1985 to 1989, he was certainly the greatest single player (37.1 ppg one year, Defensive Player of Year another) but Bird and Magic were racking up the championships, preventing Jordan from claiming the "makes his teammates better" mantle.
Jordan was always the top scorer and ALWAYS clutch, not only 6-0 in the Finals but was MVP of every one he played in. Had he not done the baseball nonsense, he would have almost surely had 8 rings instead of 6 (The Rockets of 94 and 95 werent that good), putting him just behind Bill Russell of the Celtics machine and way ahead of everyone else.
As for the "competition" angle, Jordan de-throned Magic in 1991 and then slayed Barkley, Drexler, Payton, Malone, Ewing, etc., leaving a whole generation of Hall of Famers without titles.
Bottom Line, Jordan is the greatest ever.

he's 1 of the best, i wouldn't say he's the best. Wilt, kareem, Bird, Dr J, Jerry West, Magic, Oscar Robinson, all these guys were better. Know your history of basketball before you preach!!

Wilt Chamberlain. Look at the record book. He holds almost every scoring record. He happened to play in a different era, and did not receive the props due to lack of TV coverage, and endorsements that Michael Jordan did.

I agree with you, Michael Jordan is the best so far. The thing is that eventually there will be a player with a better game than his. And don't forget that the people who have the best chance of matching Jordan, Kobe and LeBron, are hardly finished with their careers.

The final score:

Bill Russell - 11 rings.

Michael Jordan - 6 rings.

And the winner is.....BILL RUSSELL

oscar robertson, he did more for his team than any one other player, jordan had pippen and rodman, bill russell had bob cousey (cousey was the nash of his time.) Big O did everything by himself but he didnt have to score 50 to do it. i say oscar roberston with a slight edge over russell.

Wilt Chamberlain scored the most points in a game. Plus he had the highest average points scored in a season.

I not only "don't think" he's, hands down the greatest ever, I KNOW he's not.

And BTW....Jordan DID play the Rockets in 1995, AND LOST.

Check your records
