The interior angle and exterior angles of a polygon are supplementry; therefore, the exterior angle is 8 degrees and since all the exterior angles add up to 360, 360/8=45. Your answer is 45.

The formula is to find the exterior angle by subtracting 172 from 180 (getting 8), then dividing 360 by 8 because the exterior angles ALWAYS add up to 360 no matter how many sides.
