a) soup, salad, entre, dessert. 2 * 3* 4* 2 = 48. For every entree there are 2 desserts, for every salad there are 4 entrees, for every soup there are 3 salads, and there are 2 soups.
b) soup OR salad, entree, dessert. 5 * 4 * 2 = 40. Same as before only the soup and salads are pooled together.
