My ex-hallmate told me that when she first met me, she didn't like me because she thought I was a "sorority girl." I'm not even remotely preppy in my opinion.

Then she said, after she realized I wasn't like that, she was okay with me.

What does that even mean?

Some people have different first impressions. The first time my best friend saw me, I was wearing a skirt and he thought I was skanky. And that skirt wasn't even short!

People just need to get know you better before determining how you're really like. First impressions just serve as a way to judge...I'm sure she means it when she's alright with you now or else she wouldn't honest, or even be talking to you.

It means that she doesn't like the stereotypical girls that join sororities and apparently for some reason she thought you were one of them. Maybe it's just because you look like a stereotypical sorority girl--in other words you're very attractive and she was jealous of you until she got to know you. That could be far-fetched but it's a possibility.

sweetheart, don't take this one too personally. she was just telling you how she thought you were going to be. and when she got to know you, she realized that she was totally wrong about you! she likes you, and she feels comfortable enough to tell you what she'd been thinking.
one of my best friends told me something that just about blew me away one time. she told me that when she first met me that she automatically hated me! she said that she thought I was one of those stuck up little snobs who ran around with all the rich kids and wore all the right clothes, and she said she thought I was mean! all I'd ever done was try to be friendly to her because she was new at our school! I just kept being nice to her, and she ended up seeing that I was nothing like she thought I was, and we ended up being best friends. so don't make too much of what this girl said. I'm pretty sure she didn't mean you any harm at all.
Best Wishes!

It means that she is shallow and narrow minded. She is obviously threatened by sorority girls in some way. She probably is suffering from poor self esteem. The problem is definetly hers, not yours, so don't think twice about this loser.

I think she thought that you would act like you were better than her, and she got to know you and saw that you werent like that.
I dont think either of you have issues, I think she was just incorrectly judging you before knowing you.
She knows & likes you now so its all good.
Enjoy the friendship you have found.
