I am thinking of buying my girlfriend the book The Diary of Anne Frank because i heard her mention that she wants to read the book. And also i want to buy her the movie. But i saw 2 versions one of them was called Anne Frank and the other was The Diary of Anne Frank so i dont know which one to buy her. Can anyone help me out please.

The Diary of Anne Frank is better because it is the original title although the story is about Anne Frank but it all reflects on whats left inside her diary.

Yes. The original movie was the classic 1959 film "The Diary of Anne Frank". It was essentially a filming of the Broadway stage play of the same name. It was critically well received, and got many Academy Award nominations,and the Oscar for Shelley Winters for Best Supporting Actress, and awards for cinematography and art direction. A film truly worth watching. There have been several re-makes, including a made-for-TV film of Anne Frank, which is also fine in its way, with good cast.
But, dont overlook another film that was wonderful. It was a film documentary entitled "Anne Frank Remembered", a 1995 British film narrated by Kenneth Branaugh , and the excerpts from Anne's diary read by Glenn Close. It interviewed many of the real people who knew Anne Frank, including the woman who helped hide the Frank family, and found the diary in the attic after the family had been sent to concentration camps. It was awarded the 1995 Oscar for Best Documentary. If you can find it in DVD or video, don't miss it.

The older film titled The Diary of Anne Frank is one of the best of all-time of its type. Be aware, however, that it could have a sad affect on anyone who watches it.

Pick "The Diary of Anne Frank". It sounds more specific. ALso, look at the reviews and summarys on the back of the dvd/vhs case.

buy her the book. Dont get her the movie unless she reads the book first and then wants the movie. why dont you get her that book and another book that you think she would like, that will surprise her. There is the book called 'the hiding place' by Corrie Ten Boom, its about a young women who was dutch but somehow got involved in the whole nazi thing, she had to hide, she went to a concentration camp. Its a really good book. Here are some other good books to check out.- Shark Dialogues, a little princess, I came a stranger, like water for chocolate.
