I've heard that people from the Basque region of Spain and France have an extra rib. A friend of mine went to the doctor, who asked him whether he was a Basque, just by looking at an XRay. My friend is in fact Basque and doesn't think this was a coincidence.

No extra ribs, but I think their skeletal structure is easily identified, hence the x-ray conformation of the doctor. Or he just knew a Basque when he saw one.

Why would Basque people have an extra rib? Maybe the doctor looked at the patient's physical characteristics prior to asking this question. Maybe the patient's last name was Urizzaga or some other distinctly Basque name. I doubt the question was a result of the x-ray, rather some other indicator.

No they probably have more braincells than you
all humans both male and female .are put together with the same number of bones,race ,or religion or gender .or anything else is not rellevant
look at the drawings in you school books

the Doctor was playing with you or maybe thought about basques ,as he was looking at the xray

I doubt so... I must agree with the suggestion of a characteristic bone conformation. It's like the nose: everyone has a nose, but arian noses are different from mediterranean, oriental from occidental, and so on... you can have a guess on the place of origin of any person looking at his/her face...

unlikely, but Arabian horses have one less vertebrae than other breeds... go figure
