When you get your certified marriage certificate, take it to the Social Security office to get a name change then do the same for your drivers license, bank accounts, credit cards or whatever else that your name needs to be changed on.

You contact agencies by mail and tell them that you want a name change. Government agencies also like social security. Some may require a copy of marriage license. Most are calls and they will send you the necessary form to fill out and return.

It is really quite easy. Your new name is on your marriage license. You just need to bring your marriage license (make sure it is the official document, not your keepsake one) to the Social Security office, along with your Social Security card, and I think your driver's license and they will make the name change for your social security card and you should get your new card within a couple of weeks. And then you do the same thing for the DMV...just take your marriage license, and of course your driver's license, and they will get it all updated for you. Really nothing to it. :)

Go to driver's license division and take marriage license to get new license. Go to Social Security local office and take marriage license to get a new card with married name. Write all creditors that you have recently married and give them your married name. Change name on bank accounts, insurance policies, etc.

The marriage license will have your new name on it. Then you need to go to the social security office and put in for a name change, bring your marriage certificate with you. Then go to the drivers license bureau and get your license changed, again bring the marriage certificate with you. :)

Go to your local social security office with your old social security card and your marriage license and they will issue you a new card with your married name on it. Then go to your local DMV with your new social security card and whatever else id you need for your state (you can find that on your states drivers license bureau website), and they will issue you a new DL. Congrats!!

When you get married , your name automatically changes to your husbands name.
My daughter chose to keep her maiden name for business reasons.
That was fine with her husband.
