The "almost rattling" noise is most likely the heat shield for the catalytic converter. These will rust or corrode a little over time and become loose. Take it to a mechanic and have them check this out. It shouldn't cost much

if it is a tinny sound then it is surely an exterior component and no worries. If it is a deep knocking sound then your engine oil has been low for some time and the internal engine components (pistons rods crankshaft etc) are already grinding into the cylinder bores and it is getting ready to explode. usually the lifters will do that on alot of the small 4 cylinders or if its a older car maby the lifters aren't pumped up right off (there hydraulic)

It could be a shield around the muffler, catalytic converter or exhaust manifold.

where does it sound like its coming from? Could it be ur muffler or tailpipe? In the front, check ur belts
