For the same reason that Rush Limbaugh was nominated (no lie...he really is a nominee)...activist groups with an agenda trying to get publicity for their cause. The Nobel Peace Prize has become a joke. I lost all respect for the award after Jimmy Carter got it.

Scientific facts are growing at a prodigious clip. We are all subject to the same current of knowledge. Up-dates are not that hard to zero in on. Peace prize for warning of impending doom is an oxymoron, I should get a Peace prize for illuminating our glorious future. There is no doom. Global Warming, cycles, whatever; 2-3 billion years from now will be asking same question, only it will be dam why are we are the last Earthlings. And Earth will forever have its place in Universal history." Are you from Earth? I thought you might be". This is your birth place. Thats update! Thats peace!

The Nobel Committee thinks that his film concerning global warming is important. It is and they are right to think so. Why so sensitive? Maybe because the odds of President Bush ever getting nominated for a peace prize are totally absolutely zero. Now we must endure the righties smearing the Nobel Committee. Yawn. It got old years ago.

I here they nominated Rush Limbaugh for his stance on Drug Abuse and when they realized what they had done they nominated Al Gore so no one will notice.
I guess it would be a comedic situation, now wouldn't it?

I believe it was due to his work for the environment, namely the movie "An Inconvenient Truth". Although that is a guess. I did vote for the Vice President in 2000 and all but I think there were more deserving candidates.
