where are there less homophobic people?
Is that true?
Is that because people in uk dont really care about what neighbours do?
May it be because they are more used to it?
Would it be an important topic if gay marriage was legalised?

The UK has just as much prejudice as any other country. However, it is now a largely secular country and many don't really care what others get up to, as long as they aren't affected.

Isn't England just a land of fops and dandies anyway? Who would know the difference? Always plucking handkerchiefs out of their lace sleeves. My word.

Actually it may be because they're exposed to so many different cultures, whereas as we only have one, from sea to shining sea.

Did you see the movie "Beautiful Thing" about the two gay English teens, by the way? Fantasy ending, but otherwise well done. Ideal mom.

There probably are as many anti-gays (homophobic is overworked and not always accurate--isn't there a better word?) in the UK as in the US. What they DON'T have there is a large fundamentalist Christian population with pastors/mullahs fanning the flames of intolerance (remember, these pole-up-their-rears Puritan zealots fled here because they weren't tolerated over there).

I think it's simply a case of it just works here in the UK. We are tollerant (despite the small bits that show otherwise) and I think we are developing into a people who are now more accepting of change.

I don't really mind homosexuals, it's a great British tradition. I mean, look at Oscar Wilde. I just like to wind them up because they take everything so damn seriously!!

I'm not a homosexual MYSELF, you understand....

I just help them out, when they're busy!!

I think it's because fundamentalist Christianity doesn't hold as much sway in the U.K.
