You'll find out real quick if yours stops working. Without a water pump your engine will overheat and most likely self destruct. The pump circulates the coolant from the engine to the radiator where the heated water is cooled before it returns to the engine. Without the pump the coolant does not move which will trap high temperatures inside the engine & cause the engine to overheat or seeze.
