It's probably legal - but I will certainly say that it seems rather cowardly to me. If someone has fired you in this manner, perhaps you're lucky NOT to be working for them any longer! If they've been equally cowardly about saying why they are firing you, and didn't give you some sort of warning, then I suspect you'll have no difficulty claiming unemployment benefits, if you choose to do so. Yes. They have to pay you the money they owe you within 24 hours or go to the labor board. They have to pay your daily wage for everyday they do not pay you up to I believe 3 months.

Why not call the local labor department. Course, if you go in, they'll just tell you YOU'RE FIRED anyway. Start job hunting!
