hye im azleen and im from malaysia.
well there is a few reasons why malaysia is considered one of the best vacation in asia.first of all is about the beach,the multi races,the food,the culture.for your information 2007 is a special year because we are doing VISIT MALAYSIA 2007.during this year there will be alot of activities happening.i suggest you go to malaysia around august ,maybe a few days before 31st or be there at the 31st because this year happens to be the 50th year of our independence.so im pretty sure there will be a big celebration.and most people speak english in malaysia.
there is alot of nice beaches to visit in malaysia.for example there is teluk chempedak in kuantan,there is cherating in terengganu which has club med..a fantastic place to stay.and there are some great islands to visit such as pulau tioman,pulau pangkor and langkawi.from langkawi you can take the ferry to coral island a beautiful place to relax and go snorkeling.you can go scuba diving too in all the islands.
if you are a nature lover,there is alot of national parks to visit.the national parks are located in the west and east.there is also in sabah and sarawak.you can camp in the parks or just go for a day trip.you will be really close to nature.here are some parks.(the endau rompin natioanal park,there are some in terengganu and pahang)
the food is also great in malaysia.it gives your taste buds a different taste.there are alot of varieties of food.there is chinese,indian,malay and also western food.so there is not a problem if you feel like eating chinese or indian food.it's all in malaysia.i suggest you try 'satay,nasi lemak,roti canai,nasi briyani,char kuey tiow'.this are the main dish.for drinks you can try ' teh ais,teh tarik'.
if you would like to relax and have a drink at a bar then we have 'hard rock cafe',we have 'laundry' and ' maison'.those are some places i know.if you want to shop then there is klcc,midvalley mega mall,one utama and lots more.there is sunway pyramid and sunway lagoon a great place for family.also berjaya times square.there is a indoor theme park in times squares. yes you can find fake lv,guess and lots more in petaling street.
the safety situation is ok in malaysia.yes,there are pick pockets and snatch thieves but im sure other countries have those problems too.so just keep your important things safely and ask directions from decent looking people..do not ask odd looking people or kids who hang around buildings and smoke and do nothing but just sit there.be aware of them.
malaysia is also famous for sabah and sarawak.it is located on the borneo island.just a few hours from kuala lumpur by aeroplane.in sabah you can hike mt.kinabalu.they have nice beaches too and alot of local tribes such as the ibans,kadazans.

Malaysia in not one of the best but THE ONE BEST vacation destinations in Asia. It covers everything u want in Asia.
Malaysia is Truly Asia.

I don't think Malaysia is the best Asia destination. In fact, I think I would rather choose Philippines. The Filipinos are friendly and in terms of attitude, Malaysia is nowhere close by comparison.
Although many people might think that Philippines is a corrupted place, dangerous and hectic. Well, you have to go take a look yourself before you really know.
In general, a nice place to be in. Nice people, nice scenaries, nice food etc.

Maybe multi races... And you can find indian, chinese and malay stuff there... Not bad....
As you said, one of the best vacation.. there are many more destinations in Asia.... I think all country are best vacation destination....
But not bad.... Malaysia's have many cheap stuff... you can find lots of fake LV, Gucci, Prada in the chinatown @ KL..... ELectronic items still consider expensive as compare with other countries....
Malaysia have lots of cheap food also.. And taste not bad...
But when you take cab you must be careful as the driver wil cheat your money if he know u r tourist.... Take LRT the best. Robbers still have in the areas and consider quite high in malaysia... just becareful and dun wear fancy colthing... their people will just snatch your bags etc.. (my friends experience before)
But overall, not bad...... if you know how to go around, shouldn't have any problems....... but thailand better.... ;p

Hmm... everybody got their own opinion.
But it is sumthing that make me suprised but after that i'm really proud with Malaysia when Americans chose Malaysia as the best destination for holiday ( refer Global Traveler )...

Because it is politically stable, has very low crime rates and is comparatively free from drugs and sex tourism!

As you can see, you've opened a can of worms with this one!! everyone in South East Asia will tell you their country is the best but Malaysia is definitely the most popular destination because of the good security situation and low crime. It's also very beautiful but then the whole region is!

Malaysia is ONE of the best simply because it offers wide-range of choices and likings - beaches, jungle tracking, scuba diving, rock climbing, casino/gambling, golfing, shopping, dining, entertainment, handicraft, electronics, software and fashion.
Plus, its unique multicultural society with different language, food, religion, festivals, architecture and lifestyle. Not to mention Malaysia is relatively cheaper than Singapore but a little bit more expensive than Thailand.
It is suitable for families, honeymooners or couples. Malaysia is very pleasant because Malaysians are not persistent trying to sell something like in Bali or Bangkok every time you visit a shop!

really? base on what? where is the data came from?
malaysia always try to present that they are the best in asia, they are truly asia.
what is the point?
every countries in asia are the true asia anyway.
country like china, India, Cambodia, japan has it history of living with their ethnic for more than 3000-5000 yrs, they got their own world wonder spots like the great wall, angor,Taj Mahal, (or even the japanese modern economies is one of the modern world wonder which rebuild from the total destroyed nation after WWII to become the world No2 today.)
those great country got their own language and writing, each of them made their own page in the world history and still continue to do so until now, but the modern generation in those country have never even promoted them self as a truly asia or one of the best in asia in any way, because every one in the world know that they are the real truly.
by the way your twin tower is not the tallest in the word, to measure the hight of a building should measure by how hight it can bring people up. or measure until the top of the building body. we don't measuring the tall of the building till the tip of its antenna. if so people can just keep build a taler and taler antenna and call it as the world tallest building!!!
it better be call "the world tallest twin antenna tower."

surely u want great beaches..
surely u want cheap stuff..
u want low exchange rate 1usd= 3.70RM.. u just need USD 50.00 for a 4-5start hotel..
lovely rainforest..
u want to visit wildlife such as orang utan, elephant, deer, etc2.
u want to have fun. (genting highland)
u want to gamble (genting highland)
native experience.. u can visit iban tribe in sarawak..
Malaysia have all the stuff a tourist wants except for prostitution..
but u can go to our neighbourning country if u r that desperate..

Malaysia is one of the most pleasant, hassle-free countries to visit in South-East Asia. It boasts two of the world's tallest skyscrapers. It has some great beaches that offers scuba diving and snorkeling. There are many waterfalls and caves.
