The Mountain is called Denali (Dena'li from the Athabascan Indian Native Dialect). It means the Great One or High One. The name has multiple meanings.

Here in Alaska, we refer to it as The Mountain, or Denali. Mt. McKinley was derived from Senator McKinley of Ohio fame, and he would later become the President of the United States. President McKinley however, never visited Alaska to see his namesake, and for that reason, we prefer the Native name Denali.

At 20,320 feet, this is one awe inspiring vista. Words will never suffice for Denali. It can only be appreciated from the air, flying over the summit of this mountain is awesome.

Of course climbers get the greatest view... The Summit.
