Well when the Cubs win the division I'm gonna throw a huge party for only Cubs fans. When the Cubs win the NL championship I'm gonna throw an even huger party. And when the Cubs win the World Series, I'm going to declare that day a national holiday.

The Cubs Don't have the pitching. Pitching is what wins championships. The Cubs only have really 1 starting pitcher that can give you 200+ innings for sure and that is Carlos Z. This is a huge problem because if your pitchers can't stay healthy and pitch into the 5th or 6th inning, who picks up the slack, the Bullpen. The Bullpen doesn't just pick up the slack the Bullpen also gets exposed, and then you are in deep crap.
The team that will win championships is a team that has Starting Pitching Depth, and has Starting pitchers that can pitch 200+ innings, and pitch into the 5th & 6th innings. Also, a team that has a reliable Bullpen with a Closer that can close out games.
You can have all of the offence in the world, but in the end it comes down to pitching.

I really don't think the Cubs have it this year. I sort of like the Cubs but I just don't see how they could do it. That being said I am a HUGE Tigers fan. I have been all my life. The last time they won a WS was the year before I was born. And in 2003 they came within one game of the record for most losses in a season. Then look at them this last year. They were AMAZING!! Yes I am disapointed that they totally screwed up in the Series. But if you look at how they were 3 years ago and then how they were this year WOW!!! So yeah I think the Cubs could possibly do it. But I really don't think that they will... I think it's going to be Tigers vs. Braves in the World Series... I know I know you're wondering what I am smoking but to be honest I think the Tigers are going to be awesome again and I really think that the Braves are going to turn things around. Anyways that's my 2 cents.

It is not out of the realm of possibilites. The NL Central is the tightest division from first to last. Even though the Cubs finished dead last in the division in 2006, they were still 17.5 games out of first. That is because most of the teams in the NL Central is very comperable in talent makup.
Since most of the teams in that division is similar in talent makeup, The Cubs can easily finish 5th as well as 1st. So no I wouldn't be surprised. Then again, for $300 million they spent offseason in the free agent market and hiring Lou Pinilla, expectations to win is now.

Don't count your chickens before the eggs you bought have hatched, on paper they should do really well because of bringing in Soriano and Zambrano, but with injury plagued Kerry Wood and Mark Pryor they'd still have just one good pitcher like they did last year with Greg Maddux.
Last year the Yankees had the most potent line up in both the AL and NL divisions going into the playoffs, I mean aren't batters supposed to get weaker when you get into the 7-9 slots? Not with the Yanks, but look where they ended up. Swept by the Tigers.

I would be suprised because even though they spent a lot of money to upgrade their team can they compete with the Cardinals or Mets in the playoffs. For being divisonal winners it is wide open and the Cubs have a shot.

I would be delighted because the Cub's fans deserve a championship. As a Red Sox fan, I know how much 2004 meant to us!! It would be wonderful for the Cub's fans to have that same feeling after so many years.
Chow!!

Ok, What do you mean by "National League Division?" Do you mean the NL Central Division Champs? Then I would react with typical dismay, and wait for a fan to ruin their chances of playing in the Series.
If you mean "National LEAGUE Champs," then I would react with further dismay, and wait for a fan to ruin their chances of winning it all, most likely in the eight inning of game 7.

Your Drunk!!!
I'd say Carlos Zambrano must be a shoe in for the Cy Young and Prior and Wood met some Voodoo Magic Medical Miracle Man and that Soriano must be using Stickum (ala Jack Tatum) in his Glove and that oh forget it. They spent a bunch of money on Soriano so what. Pitching wins championships and at last check they only have one legitimate pitcher that won't be on the DL come Memorial Day. So Zambrano will have 40 Wins and pitch every 3rd Day.

They will become the NL champions next year and that is how they will enter the World Series. The Yankees will defeat them of course, but still that will be a good run like the Tigers of 2006, no WS win but still a great run.
