Room temperature tap water is fine after you use dechlorinator drops. Chlorine in the water will kill the fish.

You'll have to test your tap water (and see if you can get a water report from your water department to see what chemicals they put in and what the other pollution levels are) to see what your tap water has in it straight out of the tap. Most major US cities use a lot of chemicals to purify our water--and all of those chemicals have to be removed before we can use the tap water for fish so we "condition" our water with dechlorinators and dechloraminators (yea, add chemicals to our chemicaled water). I don't know how much treatment Jamaican tap water gets so cannot advise you on what you'll need to do. If you have a good aquarium shop that sells fish nearby, you can probably ask them if they use the same water source as you and what if they do anything to the water to prepare it for fish.

They're very delicate fish and you need to take really good care of them. You can use tap water but u have to put this special cleaner type thing. I'm not sure what it's called. Just make sure you dont put it in when the fish is in there.

Probably. I have kept a betta in American tap water and he did fine. I would try and if he doesn't make it, you will now know. or, you can go to a grocery store and buy a gallon af freshwater, if they have it there. Or, you can ask a fish store if it will be ok.

I hope this helped you.

I would be very careful with that type of fish. I live in Florida and several co-workers had that type of fish they kept in tap water...in an office environment and they didn't live longer than a year. All of them less than a year actually. They seem to be very delicate fish.

It is advised to go to walmart and get a yellow bottle of Aqua-Safe, It will say, "makes tap water safe for fish". give that 24 hours and you will be good to go.

put some water starter in it and you will be fine. bettas like temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. they are originally from thailand where it is very hot.

having had bettas before, i would say you're safe if you keep it out of direct sunlight. but do use something to take the chlorine out of the water. they are pretty little guys...good luck!
