Hi, I bought a new Gateway PC and it started making clicking noises from inside the tower. I dont know what it is. Whenever I'm not doing anything, its very quiet cant even hear but when I open something or click something it make clicking noises like on older PC's. On the tower itself it says "Ultra Quiet Operation" Could you please help me on figuring out and fixing this? Thanks!

I dont think the Harddrive is going bad since I just bought the computer (month and a half) and I'm able to store everything. It was pretty loud but after about a month till now it has gotten less.

It could be the hard-drive running. Careful, The hard-drive may be defective. Contact support.gateway.com about it. The chat support is free.

I started writing a big long answer to this, and then at the end of it realized that all you need is this: if it isn't a stray wire hitting the fan, there is nothing you can do to fix it. It is likely a problem with the read/write arm of either your CD/DVD drive or your hard drive, and since it's under warranty, the best thing for you to do is to take it in and see if the drive needs replacement. The newer model drives might whir or chuff, but they shouldn't click. Certainly not loudly. Unless you bought a warranty agreement, take it in ASAP.

Hi, it "sounds" like you got a bad hard drive in your new PC. If it doesn't make any sound when your not doing anything, then kicks up once you start doing something- your hard drive is going...and soon so back up your stuff!!
