If this is the fact that it is to honor those Americans no matter what their race then why not have an American History month drop the color......I agree Honor those who have made a difference......
I am of Native American decent my ancestors were slaughtered for nothing more then people not understanding them and wanting the land they lived on , They were rounded up by the thousands and moved to the desert from places where they were able to hunt and feed their families to places where they starved..... How about Honoring the ones who tried to make a difference like Quanah Parker who went to Washington and tried to improve the lives of other Native Americans......
Lets Honor all of our Ancestors who worked hard to make a difference for all of us.........

We have Black History Month to honor all those African-Americans who changed American for the better, even during the times of slavery.
The word 'racist' is being used so often that the meaning is getting distorted.
Racist means that you show hatred or intolerance toward another race or other races. By having Black History Month, we are not hurting anyone in the process.

We do have History months for other cultures, but no other minority group has incluenced the history of the US the ways that black people have. I dont think it is racist at all, maybe its not P.C., but so what. Through slveryl, civil rights and beyond blacks gave alot of the american culture and experence. I think it is good that we have this because some of the most intresting historical people might not be known of if it were not for it.

they have a close-by American history month, it incredibly is in November. they have an Asian history Month in could to boot. the completed clarification for the Black historic previous month is that black contributions have traditionally been minimized in the U. S., and it substitute into meant to sell those achievements. White achievements are not minimized in the same way.

Black History Month is about those who have made a difference not purely because of the color of their skin but for their actions. We have long struggled to understand our place in society. With each passing decade, we have pushed the color line foward, widened the circle and moved closer to America's promise of equality. Also, we celebrate Black History Month to honor many Black Americans like Martin Luther King, who pushed these color lines and broke through them, forever altering America's history.

I agree. Have all or none.
I wonder what would happen if someone decided to start a white history month?

I say get rid of it and you get rid of another piece of seperatism in America. If we want to stop racism then we have to stop the labels and division of races.
How about just "History"
