Shortie ... The number of good things done by the U.S. government are too numerous to mention. There indeed are many. However, nowadays, everyone wants more and more ... "Give me this and give me that," and that kind of mentality is bleeding us dry and ALSO giving the impression that the government is inadequate in some way, and this is not necessarily the case, of course.
Furthermore, it's just human nature, it seems, to dwell on bad news and the negative aspects of something. And it's the same with your question. Most people fail to note the innumerable number of good things accomplished by us and our government; instead, they dwell on what hasn't been done.
And let me add one more thing of a personal nature: My ex-wife always wanted something. She was forever saying, "We need this, we need that, we gotta get the same thing my girlfriend bought." I said, "Gosh, come on, now. We've spent as much as we can afford to spend and you still want more? When are you going to sit down for a minute and enjoy what you HAVE instead of thinking of things that you DON'T and don't need???"
Anyway, I guess you get what I mean. That's a good question, Shortie. Thanks for asking. Good luck, sir.

Well the good aspects are that it is freely elected. We could as a nation impose terms limits by never voting for an incumbent again. We could try out all new taxes for a year on members of congress before they went into effect and then extend that year to and additional 12 months at double what they are proposing if they still want to vote for it. Before alloting any money to a social program there would have to be a plan for ending it and a time limit for people who are receiving benefits, IE The government will no longer accept applications for Welfare from anyone born after such an such a date so take precautions to insure you won't need it.

Well, we are a sovereign government, meaning that we are free from the binding grips of other nations. We have freedoms that other countries dont have.
You see, instead of looking at the media, look at the big picture.
To improve the aspects, we should look at how fortunate we are to have rights like the freedom of speech and stuff. We should try to incorporate these rights into the lives of others. That's what the recent Iraq war is all about. Forget about oil. Forget about those crazy, one-siders telling you it's losing money and it's killing soldiers for no reason. Those soldiers are dying to promote the government we are fortunate enough to have.
