If somebody cut your tongue out, could you live or would you die?

Hi,
It is possible to live a normal life without a tongue. Persons suffering from various cancers often do glossectomies (tongue removal). Obviously, the loss of your tongue will lead to speech impairment but not loss of life.
On the other hand, if you were imaging the loss of a tongue, say, accidentally, then you could die from loss of blood but certainly not from the loss of your tongue.

It would be kind of hard to eat considering you wouldn't have anything to push the food down your esophagus, or any saliva to help break it down. You wouldn't be able to taste either. I'm sure you could live without one though.

dude...why?..... I dont know about you but, I like my tongue were it is...and yeah I guess you can live without it..... you'll just sound like a tard when you talk... why again are you cutting out your tongue?

wow. i don't know. if you got an infection from the wound, you would probably die, but if it healed alright, i don't see why you couldn't survive. talking would pretty much be impossible, and so would eating, but i suppose it's happened before.

You would live but the thing is that you would need a talking device in which you stick in your throat. ( you would need surgery in which the doctors will make a hole in your throat) and thats how you would talk again.

I think you could live, but you would really be able to talk much anymore. You could make noise(I think)but you wouldn't be able to form words.
