US immediately gathered the UN security council after the Korean War started. In those days, a decision made by the security council could only come into effect when the vote was unanimous. But, the USSR was absent that day, and the UN was able to rule the invasion of NK as illigal.

Allied Support by..... (most of the help came from the US anyway)

NK's support would be limited to China and USSR. China's population made them able to move forward by sheer number of people. On the other hand, USSR did not want uncomfortable relationships with the US, so they did not participate directly. Some USSR pilots participated in the Korean War, but no more. Indirectly, they helped NK by supplying numerous military supplies such as tanks and guns.

The principal support on the side of the North Korean communists was the People's Republic of China, with limited assistance by Soviet combat advisors, military pilots, and weapons. South Korea was supported by the United Nations forces, principally from the United States, although many other nations also contributed personnel. 93% of the UN force that supported South Korea were American.
