A theory is the question that one assumes may or may not be so, it must be challenged and tested for verifiability, validity and reliability, so I am not sure what the misunderstanding in this might be, care to explain this more?

A theory isn't something that's "only", a theory is something that is as true as anything else, but can't be proven for whatever reasons. For example, theories Black Holes are fact, but we've never seen a black hole in person, so it's only a theory

Well that is why it is misunderstood because it don't makes since it sounds like to me some one is trying to be smart and some times being to smart you can be DUMB and I would not worry about it.
