Well, when doctors irrigate the ears, they just squirt warm water into them, so I'm pretty sure it's safe. (Also, typically I let warm water sit in my ear for a little bit when I'm in the shower, something my mom, a doctor, told me to do)

My Dr. showed me what to do since everytime we go to Maui all the kids earwax softens and plugs up their ears because they are swimming constantly.. He takes a large syringe and fills a small basin with equal parts warm water and hydrogen peroxides..he then squirts it gently into the ear and the wax starts to come out...he told me to do it myself on our next vacation...I was so stumped before he showed me how...someone suggested ear candling but he said he has seen that done wrong and the wax from the candle can drip back into the ear and plug it..ouch!

The best thing to do is there is a medicine called Debrox over the counter use that to soften the ear wax and irrigate it out.

Hydrogen perioxide works well. The bubbling action is great at loosening wax. It helps ease the pain if your ear hurts too.

it is dangerous to allow water to sit in your ears for too long... my son had a serious issue with wax in his ears and i used to boil the wax out with peroxide...
pour it in (with an eye dropper) and allow to bubble and do its work for a while, then drain and repeat... this will bring out large chunks of white earwax and is much safer than water
otherwise see a hearing specialist and he can probably clean your ears with a quick jet of warm water in his office
