You 'ld better visit this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_history and read what is written there (at the Ancient Greece paragraph) and at its links.
Don't go to Ancient Greece page - it has some spam problems right now.

relies upon on the term Athenian Greece from 500 BC to 431 BC - the time of Pericles, Socrates, and an outstanding sort of different historic notables. i could quite pass the Plague of Athens and the Peloponnesian conflict commencing in 431 BC. OR Rome from a hundred advert to a hundred and seventy advert while there grew to become into relative peace and prosperity. lower back, i could quite not be there while the Antonine Plague grew to become into at it is top ~ a hundred and seventy advert.
