Maybe it's resting its brain. It has to work hard every day. A little break can't hurt it.

I would follow Angry Croak's advice except first I would turn off the computer before pulling the plug. Do this at the point where you get the "Windows is shutting down" screen. In order to turn off the computer, hold in the power button on the tower (cpu) until the monitor and the light on the tower turns off. You may have to hold the button in for at least 15 seconds. After that turn off the surge suppressor, then unplug although it is probably sufficient simply to turn off the suppressor. You can unplug it if the former does not work. Wait at least 3 minutes before replugging or turning the surge suppressor back on or both. Hope that helps. Good luck

if you know how to start it in safe mode tapping F8 before you see windows you will get up a diagnostic tool/screen you have to operate with your up/down arrows choose last known configuration when windows or operating system worked then hit enter.let reboot.if that does not work your problem could be internal - Good Luck
yes resting/unplugging could do it too but if not try above

The first thing you can do when it hangs hit CTRL,Alt,Delete and the program on top is the one hanging. You can also run defrag and that will help too. Hopes this helps
