GO FOR IT. Of course, you didn't give us a PRICE, so we have no idea if you are getting RIPPED OFF. You see, if you said that this computer was only $900, I'd say SOUNDS GOOD. But if you are paying $1800 for a NO NAME BRAND, then you are getting ripped off.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

No, stick with the 1GB of ram. Most newer games require a minimum of 1GB of ram to avoid long load times, and the sweet spot is moving to 2GB. Also, having only 512MB of ram will give you a very poor computing experience with Vista. It will be like running XP with 256MB of ram.
And don't get Home Basic. It's crippled and lacks some of the major features that make Vista Vista. For example, Aero. Get at least Home Premium.
Other than that, the specs seem fine, depending on how much it costs.

That's a very nice system, don't change a thing and you'll be happy. I don't know anything about Vista yet, but otherwise it sounds like a nice system. Although with Vista, DO NOT lower the memory! Everything I've seen (and that's a lot) says Vista is a memory hog and you need at least 1GB of memory to run it right. Enjoy!

I wouldn't cut the ram back....you need a full gig for the full features of vista aero and it's never too much ram for a game like carbon.

What are you going to use it for? It's Vista ready - and it should be a pretty fast machine.
