Yes, you could easily open sound recorder (comes standard with all PCs, as far as I know) go to start, all programs, accessories, entertainment, and then sound recorder.
If you have other programs, you can use those, or you could find sound recording programs on the internet.
If you have a microphone, getting some sort of recording done should be a piece of cake.

" FROM " your computer, NEVER !
I am 100/ sure .
" TO " your PC, Yes ! Unplug the jack in your sound card, open "AvRack" (Windows program), select source in (Mic.) and press "Record", when you're ready .
"Sound Recorder" is not for external source
The microphone is from your head-set, or external capture sound, but is not from your computer.
I'm straightly, but not a badman !

Put ur microphone's jack in "Line in" in the sound card.
goto volume control and check if Line in is mute or not.
Don't make Line in Mute.Click in the check box to uncheck the
"Line in" box.
Now you can record your voice from the microphone using sound recorder, Sound Forge, Adobe Audition or other software.
