It seems that the squaddie mate and the white van man were in cahoots with the death ..... did I get that right and what exactly happened when she disappeared?

I'm a bit confused too. Luckily I videoed it so I will watch it again to see if I missed something. I seem to remember the squaddie was a bit miffed when Matt couldn't help him get a job. I don't think she was meant to die so perhaps he just wanted to teach Matt a lesson? They took her to the Grandad's caravan and white van man went to fetch the kids because she was worried about them being alone. the boy wouldn't go with him and the dog bit him so only the daughter ended up with her mum. I'm guessing the squaddie was following them and must have either been in the lorry we saw pull up in the lay-by or the flower seller's van?
