I also had a miscarriage and am afraid to get pregnant again. A lot of what the doctors have told me is that it depends on a lot of different things, but that I'm not at risk anymore than anyone else. I think there is no real safe zone, but by 5-1/2 months, you are pretty good. My cousin had a miscarriage at 5 months, but I really think that is rare. Try to relax. The chances of you having another miscarriage aren't that great. Talk to your doctor if you are really concerned. I'm sure he/she could put your mind at ease much better than anyone here...I wish you and your baby the best!

HUGS! Just because you had 1 doesn't mean it will happen again. I had 1 miscarriage and 3 healthy babies. The pregnancy right after the miscarriage was the hardest....you are always stressing about losing the baby or it not being normal (he was perfect!)

Until the end of the first trimester (13 weeks) you are considered in the danger zone. Once you see (u/s) or hear (doppler) the baby's heartbeat the chance of miscarriage is much lower. Since you have had a previous m/c - they may give you an early ultrasound this time...I think about 6 weeks is the earliest they pick up the heartbeat on u/s)

A good friend of mine also had an u/s (then 2 healthy boys). She said the first pregnancy after the miscarriage - she was also a wreck. But once she was 12 weeks or so and doppler would pick up the heartbeat she rented a BABY BEAT home doppler system so she could listen in when she felt nervous. She said it really eased her mind that the baby was doing fine.

Best wishes - our prayers are with you!

I had to back to back m/c and I know exactly how you feel...When I got pregnant with my son I was worried..but he was born a healthy 8 pounds 3 oz.!!! I am currently 14 weeks and I still worry about this baby...The doctors told me once a heart beat is established then your chances of having a m/c goes down..Then once you reach the 3 month mark it goes even farther down...I wish you all the best on having a healthy baby!!! Good luck and congrats!!

Your chances of having another miscarriage is about the same as it was last time, when you get to 12 weeks, all should be ok.

Good Luck and congrats on the bubs.

You can usually concider yourself "safe" after 14 weeks. The chances of miscarrying again after 2 years is slim unless you have a medical reason to state otherwise.
