Personally I think its one of a few things:

You know that you dont want to but you lack confidence so asking others is the only way you are able to make a decisive decision...

You think you want to but just incase your making it public so you can have him arrested afterwards.. in case it doesnt go your way...

Your just looking for attention and there is no boss...

You wish you boss would say that...

What I reckon? DONT BE SO SILLY, HAVE SOME SELF RESPECT, ONLY YOU MUST LIVE WITH YOUR MEMORIES IT COULD CAUSE SOME SERIOUSLY UNWANTED THOUGHTS OR EVEN DEPRESSION.

TELL HIM YOUR WORTH MORE THAN A STUPID PROMOTION AND THAT YOU VALUE WHO YOU ARE, TELL HIM YOU WOULD LOVE THE PROMOTION IF HE THINKS YOUR THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB AND THAT YOU WOULD DO THE JOB PROUD... BUT YOUR NOT GOING TO SUBMIT YOURSELF TO STOOOOOPID REQUESTS FROM A SELF CENTRED CHANVENISTIC PIG.

If it doesnt do any good, (which it wont unless he already feels guilt for asking it) then at least you can walk out with you head held high knowing that you didnt do such a thing and that you have so much self control and respect your proud of yourself.

Dont worry about finding another job, you have a valid reason, dont be ashamed to tell the next employer about it. (if it comes to that)

If it is a lot more money then its an easy way to earn it unless he is truly repulsive. Get him tied up with a contract first for he may think it not worth it once he gets his leg over. Would I? I do not believe in people cheating there is no need to do that, if you are cheating it means you are not happy in that relationship but if you and he are both single why not! Just keep it light and don't believe what he says you are doing it for promotion and he is doing it to get into your knickers, its win win both ways. Listen to yourself whatever way. Deep down you know.
