Why does Superman stand there and let himself get shot, but then he ducks out of the way when the criminal throws the gun at him?

If he were concerned about a 'MISFIRE', he would just catch the gun. I mean, you see the bad guy shoot at Superman, and empty his gun..The gus is still pulling the trigger...CLICK CLICK CLICK....the bad guy loos at the gun, then throws it at Superman.....Superman "THE MAN OF STEEL", ducks out of the way. What gives?

Better question: Superman movie where Lex Luthor steals a strand of hair for the DNA... How is it able to hold up a one ton weight, but be cut by a pair of wire cutters?

That is a good question! I suppose that if the gun was still loaded and was thrown, Superman ducked because there might have been a possibility of a misfire. Superman would not want the gun to go off accidently.

The real reason of course, is that special effects in the late 50s could make it look like George Reeves (Superman) was deflecting bullets, but being hit with that gun would have HURT!!

He doesn't want the gun to strike him wrong and misfire, injuring an innocent bystander. In all seriousness this could be his trying to act more human. Most people duck or dodge when something is thrown at them.

Because being able to stop bullets makes him look strong but getting hit with a gun would make him look stupid.
