What you might want to focus on is how the events of 9/11 evolved the United States' political ideology into one of Protectionism (militarily, economically, and politically.), and essentially Isolationism.

The world's sole superpower has lost a lot of ground in the last five years in the area of foreign policy and diplomacy. By not having the friendship and cooperation of ally countries, the U.S. is then forced to go it alone, when trying to 'police' the world.

Perhaps this evolution that America is undergoing is exactly the direction that its' own enemies would wish for!

Food for thought.

Good luck on the essay.

9/11 brought in the age of the war on terror which is as much a war against terrorists as it is a war against American liberals. Bush was able to gain war time Presidential powers because of 9/11 as well and that meant he was able to dismantle parts of the US Constitution in almost any manner that he saw fit all in the name of the war on terror. Bush took away more American freedoms in the last 6 years in the name of security than Bin Laden could have ever imagined doing. Finally 9/11 brought back the same "civil war" that happened in the US, because of the Vietnam war, between conservatives & liberals that the liberals eventually won but the conservatives will do what ever it takes to not lose that war a 2nd time & that is extremely dangerous for the country.

Very briefly, the two major political parties appeared to be focused on working together to defeat the enemy that had been attacking us repeatedly throughout the 1990s. (First World Trade Center attack was in 1993)

However, it was not long before the Democrat party resumed its pattern of obstruction, complaining and negativity to try to sour the public regarding the Republican President. Democrats' rallying cry was "Vietnam", the war in which Socialist Democrats managed to defeat America from within through a constant barrage of negativity that demoralized Americans.

Politically, the Socialist Democrats are trying to repeat their success in defeating the US so that they can gain power. If they can defeat the US while a Republican is President, then they can claim that Republicans cannot succeed so we should elect a Democrat.

Most of the public is not attentive enough to understand that it is the Democrats who are CREATING the problems.

Well.. there was a trickle down effect that triggerd a war. First, Bush was upset at Bin Laden and then he began to claim that Bin and Sadam were working together.
That's a political topic.

It also made New Yorkers vote for Mayor Gulliani (i dunno if i spelled his name correctly) b/c he was the previous mayor, but his name wasnt even on the ballot, his term was over.
