You can be. Just take good care of yourself while you're young and it will make you look younger in the long run. You can still be lively as well by always having friends and a bunch of kids. :o)

Get out there and exercise, socialize and get involved in stuff. After all when you are in a wheelchair, old and crippled you won't be able to do that so do it now then when you hit that wheelchair phase think of all the memories and stories you can tell your buddies. Do it now and stop thinking about old age, it will come soon enough, don't bring it on yourself now. Life is for the living, so do it now.

Age is earned. Being old means you have made it through most of life. Not every old person is a cripple. Keep your health and fitness up and well, and it will do wonders for you in the long run!

Then do your best to stay as healthy as possible. Eat right, get plenty of rest and exercise. Visit your doctor on a regular basis.

And no, don't be afraid of old age. I'm a woman who is pushing 60, and I plan on embracing "old age", whatever that is, with open arms.

P.S. Most of the people in my family live until they are in their 90's or older.

Hi Yahoo, why is it that youth is wasted on the young? Someday you will understand this question.Anyhow dude- enjoy every moment while you are still young! How you will end up(assuming you reach old age) depends on how you maintain your body now and forever.Remember garbage in/garbage out.Party with moderation! You will be here only once and fear is not the answer.

Exercise particularly breathing and your legs, your legs {femur]
are the main blood storage area for your body if you want to remain spry in old age you must maintain flexability in your legs
it is neglect of this that leads to crippled look tai chai is a good set to practice compare elderly asian men against westerners asian elderly men generally look a lot spryer due to practicing tai chai and other martial art systems that focus on breathing and flexability

I asked my grandfather the same question when I was young.

he said something like:

"I have earned every wrinkle, and every scar, my face shows that I spent a lot of my life smiling, and every grey hair just shows that my children weren't always angels....."

If you want a long healthy life here's a few tips:

eat healthy (low sugar, Low Salt)
Drink healthy (distilled water is purest)
excersize regularly
and always be busy....

I think of my grandfather as a shark....if he stops moving he'll probably die ;)

but in all fairness...he's still the toughest guy I know. and he's in his eighties, been married for about 55yrs, doesn't smoke, and he excersizes daily for a few minutes.

The alternative to getting old -- the only alternative -- is to die young. Your choice. But you might find, when you get old, that you are really glad to be alive -- maybe even more than you are now. Age has its rewards: wisdom (even if you don't think so now), perspective, financial security (if you don't blow it all now), and not quite as much fear of the unknown as you might have now.

Old age is good when you set it up right. I know a 78 year old man right now drinking Whiskey and still having sex with women.
He still works.
Thats what old age does for you, it works for you, but right now you work for it,.

Then keep active, and you wont be. I wouldn't be afraid of old age, it's part of life. You will see as you grow older, so will your mentality. We constantly mature and it wont affect you the way you think it's going to.
