I don't think it could be considered abuse but It is definitely not the right approach. This is sometime you must discuss openly with your spouse and come to a common agreement. Then you both must present a united front to your children. Children are very adept at playing one parent against the other. If you and your spouse can't come to terms on this matter, then I would suggest you both see a counselor. Someone is your family has to step up and be the leader for the good of the whole family. Good Luck!

I think this is going too far. Why don't you try getting everyone involved in a family activity, bowling, tennis, join the YMCA. Do a family night at home, pick a game, which everyone must play, the next week someone else gets to pick the game or activity.

How much do you feel is too much? You can not monitor your wife watching tv, she is an adult, to try to do that you would be a control freak. However, children are a different story. Too much tv or video games are not good for children. They should be given a time limit per day of how much they are allowed to play or watch. Also, try to encourage the kids to spend their time watching educational tv.

I cannot believe this. Their are thousands of things that you can all do together.
Talk to your wife & explain to her that you don't want 'Our child' to grow up to be a 'couch potato', get a dog & all go out for a walk, change your lifestyles it appears that your wife is in a rut & taking your kid with her.
If you ever have a little problem just talk & you will both work it out

That's considered domineering and controling behavior to the point of spousal abuse. Since you are considering doing such a thing, my guess is that you really don't care about your wife.
If you cared about her health, you would offer to pay for a visit to Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers and offer to pay for a personal trainer at a gym, if they actually are obese.
If they aren't obese I'd suggest leaving them alone, I too love tv and video games and spend a lot of time doing both, as does my husband. It hasn't hurt our physical health and has actually saved us money. We spend more time at home and less on going out to movies, dining out, etc.

T.v and video games aren't unhealthy, but too much of it may be a problem. I don't really think you should control your wife, shes a grown adult

that's going way to far, why don't you guys do something as a family. have a day were you just go to the park and do differnt activites, maybe even set a rule that the kids can only watch tv for a certain amount of time.

Haha, I'm guessing that your kid and your wife are fat?? Well, you should encourage them to lose weight in a nice way. Don't say "You're so ******* fat, pig." Say something like, "You know, I'm very worried about your health. Why don't we join a gym together?" and if the kid is really fat, take them to the doctor. Letting your child be obese makes you look like a **** for brains parent.

Try physically interactive games like eye-toy or dance mat games. Or get a Nintendo Wii, then your whole family will be prancing round the house like morons. You might even enjoy them yourself.
