Depend how long he has been injured for - if he has done it in the last 12 hours - keep him very very quiet and see if there is any improvement within the next 12 hours, if not then you need to see a vet or surrender him.

You cannot let your puppy limp and possibly be in pain for eight days. This is cruelty and neglect, and it is illegal not to mention careless and irresponsible.

I agree with the vet tech who said it's OK to watch your puppy for 12 hours. Sometimes dogs do just get a minor sprain or other injury, or they may get something stuck in their paws (please check) and will back in shape within a few hours.

However, if 12 hours have passed and the puppy is still limping, I'm sorry, but you have a responsibility for the welfare of your animal so you will have to borrow the money from somewhere.

Also, please do not follow the advice to splint your puppy's legs, because unless you are a trained veterinary technician you can possibly further injure your puppy or cause him more pain if the legs are not splinted properly.

Keep him in an enclosed area--do you have a crate? If not, set up a box with pillows and a blanky to cushion his joints and keep him warm. Let him out to eat, drink, potty, all that, but keep him quiet and contained for a while and see if that helps. Pet him to sleep and give him a hot-water bottle wrapped in one of your t-shirts to keep him soothed.

I'd say keep him until you have the dough to have him seen--if he doesn't have a fever or isn't bleeding or vomiting (and his digestion is normal), it's not an emergency and you can wait a bit. If he needs to rest, then you'll already have him resting.

I say the best bet, if you don't have any money is to either try to borrow from parents, friends? If not, then I think you should just try to put the dog's legs in little splints, and not have him do too much exercise. I can tell you love your puppy, don't give him up!!! Good Luck ^_^

Did you see him "hurt" them? It's a very good chance that he's having growing pains. (all our shepherds did) They are harmless and you can call the vet to get the recommended dose and prper type of pain reliever for him good luck
