It depends on where you are and what you are doing. The laws vary widely between countries and even states in the US or provinces of other countries. Also, enforcement varies a lot.
You probably should not worry unless you are suspected of being a terrorist, con artist, or huge thief of music and/or video.
However, everyone should be careful because if someone decides to make an example of you, they can get court orders for searches if they have influence and power.

Technically, not in all cases. A recent court case upheld the FBI's right to search a hard drive in a "terrorism" case. And they have the right and ability to monitor your internet uploads and downloads, unless you use an anonymizer.

I would say probably because it is intellectual property. But it think they can seize items like computers when they preform a home search.

As long as it is on your property and belongs to you. If you use a public computer or your work computer- no!

depens on what state you are in, but i think it is the same anywhere. because these items are sealed like the trunks of your car, then yes they do have to have one.

yea don't worry unless you have illegal stuff on your harddrive... and if you did do illegal stuff on your computer... pedofile or illegal songs, you deserve to go to prison or jail anway :)

that depends on why the suspect is arrested and where they are arrested for that offence.
