I know what you mean about Thor. I've always been a fan of his. I remember looking at Thor in the comics and fantasizing about him. I too would like to see Thor on the big screen. The actor who takes on the role of Thor should resemble the comic book character as closely as possible. He would have to be strikingly handsome, hugely muscled and blond. With this in mind the studio should hire a bodybuilder with acting abilities. My choices are Jeramy Freeman and Chris Rademacher. Freeman has that rugged, chiseled look with a square jaw and strong chin. The stuff Super Heroes are made of. On the other hand Rademacher has a "cuter" look about him but with strong features also. Both of these guys have the right "look" to pull off the role. I've attached links to their photos. Enjoy.

This is rather hard, but let's see what I can come up with!

1) He's getting up there in years, but a young Rutger Hauer was "the" Thor, basically. Blonde, blue-eyed, with the sort of hard, masculine face you'd expect of an Icelandic hero who takes his name after a Scandinavian god. He fully embodied him.

2) I don't have much faith in his acting abilities, but David Boreanaz has the sort of type I'd imagine on Thor- that strong, square jawline, broad face, and very muscled body. Give him long blonde hair flowing to the shoulders in a snowy breeze, and maybe he'd work.

3) Oddly enough, Nick Lachey, for the same reasons as #2. He just has that look, I suppose. But never a real choice- good Lord, there are enough musicians trying to act as it is.

4) Other than that, I can only imagine the guys that Hollywood goes to for everything: Brad Pitt, Viggo Mortensen, Daniel Craig. They wouldn't be my first choices, but who knows what they might be able to pull off.

Sorry I couldn't be more of a help! It was a hard question, though. Here's to hoping you find your in-the-flesh Thor!

Edit: also, if you're just looking for some eye candy, you might try these:

Maybe Heath Ledger could pull it off, he's become more accomplished of an actor lately. My first instinct was Kurt Russell, but he might be getting alittle too old for the role now. Give Orlando Bloom a few more years of growth and a bit less of the baby face and I know he could do it plus bring a girly fan base that would rocket the film up the charts! He too, is getting a more serious acting resume under his belt and is more than just teen age eye candy.

Awww come on!! What's wrong with the Scandanavian god??? Okay, he's got a huge temper...can I have a winged helmet too?
Dolph Lungren would have been good but he's too old now (okay, I'm in my fourties) and I've got more than a few boxes of the comics. He's one of my old hero-favourites and I'd love to see him on the big screen but I know very few of the new actors...darn it.
Besides, a winged helmet would rust underwater unless it was *really* good metal :)
