I think the New York Mets have the better lineup....finally. It's about time. So many years of Yankee domination. Mets still have Pedro, though he's recovering from injuries (but he's dominant any time he pitches). And the Mets are loaded. They have Delgado, Beltran, Reyes, E. Chavez, S. Green, P. Lo Duca, and you can't forget one of, if not the best 3rd baseman in the game right now--David Wright. That's right--better than A-Rod. Pitching-wise, the Mets still have the advantage. The only decent starter on the Yankees in Mike Mussina now that Big Unit left. As I said before, the Mets still have Pedro, plus they have Tom Glavine (who was surprisingly good last year), Oliver Perez, Guillermo Mota, Billy Wagner, and another upcoming star-John Maine. Awesome in the '06 playoffs, bound to be solid in the upcoming season. For the Yankees, the only bright spot they have is 1) Derek Jeter, 2) Mariano Rivera, and 3) their large mass of money. A-Rod's not there because he has proven himself to be a solid source for errors on the stat sheet.
So this year, the Mets are finally better than the Yanks. (I'm not even a Mets fan either. Go A's!)

The Yankees. Let's go position by position.
C: I would give the slight edge to Posada over LaDuca.
1B: Gotta give the Mets with Delgado the edge.
2B: The edge goes to the Yankees and Cano
SS: Once again the Yanks. You can't beat Jeter.
3B: A little tougher. Wright is a great young hitter. But I got to go with A-Rod.
RF: Abreu and the Yankees
CF: The Mets with Beltran over Damon.
LF: Matsui is my choice . So Yanks
That gives the Yanks a 6 to 2 edge. Also the fact that they have a DH in Giambi. To me no question is the Yankees.

a million. i do not spend quite a number of time complaining about the severe payrolls in baseball. My prominent team, the Giants, is about middle of the p.c.. (about $eighty 5 mil). For the most area, i do not extremely fault the massive spenders for his or her severe salaried lineups. in the journey that they have the money coming in, they ought to have the right to spend it. it really is better effective than them pocketing the earnings and putting an inferior product on the sphere. If a team spends its funds properly, they could positioned an extremely solid product out their in the journey that they draft properly and strengthen their gamers. regardless of the indisputable fact that, I do have a situation with the Yankees loose spending techniques, whose in hardship-free words technique in chasing a championhsip is to throw funds at it. Their payroll of $2 hundred mil eclipses all of the different proper communities. Tied for #2 are the Cubs and Mets at a paltry $one hundred thirty 5 mil. This chasm between a million and a couple of is ideas boggling and suggestions the scales too heavily. Baseball needs to agency up their cap to stem this form of imbalance. i'm not a Yankees hater in any respect...better of a Dodgers hater if something, regardless of the indisputable fact that that is getting out of hand. If I were a Mets, purple Sox, or Cubs fan i'd not sense in charge. Their spending is in the geographical areas of acceptability and good judgment. If I were a Yankees fan, i ought to probable ***** extremely. i ought to understand the large benefit, and it ought to probable eliminate from a number of my delight in prevailing. it really is like Mike Tyson beating up on a 12 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous. How fulfilling can that be?

The Yanks are so much better on offense. Top to bottom, they got high OBP guys and sluggers too. A-Rod will have another MVP year, and no one will score more runs than them this year.
The Mets have David Wright and no one else. Reyes is overrated (low walk rate), and the end of their lineup is weak, much weaker than Cano, Posada, and Cabrera

Yankees, clearly.
Posada, Giambi, Cano, Jeter, A-Rod, Matsui, Damon and Abreu have all been in all-star games. 1B is a weak link, but Menticewicz (sp?) could still hit .270ish with 60-70 rbis, just because of who's hitting around him.
There's not another weak link. Cano is the least known, but he hit .350something last year.

The Yankees, no question.
There is no "easy out" anywhere in that lineup. Even discounting that the Mets have to bat the pitcher, they don't instill the same fear in opposing pitchers and pitching coaches that the Yankees.

I don't think there is any question that the Yankees are far superior to the Mets. It's not even close. The Mets won't even with their division this year. The Phillies will win the NL East.
