Check with some of the offshore catering companies and see if they are hiring.

Good Luck

My offshore cook story: This was about 1987 offshore the Gulf of Mexico. A cook for a caterer had just started working for the company and it was his first time out on the rigs. He had worked as a pastry chef for some hotel in Illinois and was having a tough time getting the food right. Many of the meals he prepared were going over with the guys like lead ballons.

I told him, "You will not mess up with Fried Chicken. These men are southerners and will eat fried chicken until the sun goes down." Anyway, the next day, he had prepared Fried Chicken.

BUT HE COOKED IT IN CORN MEAL!! I told him that he really messed up (so did the guys on the rig that he was working for) He pleaded "I followed a recipe".

I felt sorry for him as he was replaced the next day.

Find the telephone listing for "Fresh Look Services" located in Lufkin, TX. I don't know the number. I know they're looking for offshore cooks to work out of Monroe, La.

How about a cruise line? You'll spend six months on the ship with meals and lodging paid for.
